So .... one heart to another....
A theory or an investigation... had this thought build over the course of the last couple days in respect to a difficulty in my life.... It bubbled up so much in so many ways it awakened me and I had to write....
Are things that are authentic and true in our lives, our experiences, where we're "at", treasured in our hearts and hidden - are all these things not quite so much because they are ours and deeply felt but because they reflect or transmit a divine quality that happens to be in our awareness? And conversely that things that we experience that are not true are not true because they fail to reflect or transmit those same divine qualities?
Consider the Valleys of Knowledge and Unity...
Just briefly -
Indeed, his words were true, for he had found many a secret justice in this seeming tyranny of the watchman, and seen how many a mercy lay hid behind the veil. Out of wrath, the guard had led him who was athirst in love’s desert to the sea of his loved one, and lit up the dark night of absence with the light of reunion. He had driven one who was afar, into the garden of nearness, had guided an ailing soul to the heart’s physician. Now if the lover could have looked ahead, he would have blessed the watchman at the start, and prayed on his behalf, and he would have seen that tyranny as justice; but since the end was veiled to him, he moaned and made his plaint in the beginning. Yet those who journey in the garden land of knowledge, because they see the end in the beginning, see peace in war and friendliness in anger.
Such is the state of the wayfarers in this Valley (Knowledge); but the people of the Valleys above this see the end and the beginning as one; nay, they see neither beginning nor end, and witness neither “first” nor “last.”
For the wayfarer who was veiled and had to be chased by his fear in pursuit of his dear one he then overcame his fear and was accepted to the presence of by his dear one. But for those in the Valley of Unity wouldn't have been made their plaint while being chased and just climbed the wall because it needed to be climbed.
The fear was unreal even though it's all the wayfarer could think about at the moment but his true motivation was to attain the presence of his beloved.
So now consider our own lives.
Suppose our fears are in the way because they do not reflect or transmit the light of God."I charge you all that each one of you concentrate all the thoughts of your heart on love and unity. When a thought of war comes, oppose it by a stronger thought of peace. A thought of hatred must be destroyed by a more powerful thought of love." There is a perspective here that to my eyes now bears a resemblance to the Valley of Unity - of not making the plaint - of seeing the truth unaffected by fear. There is a facade of unity where people just get along and don't share anything too personal, too risky, and where negative feelings, powerful suffering we've been through, are avoided. As the unity deepens the negative feelings are more thoroughly squashed but they bubble up all the more. Eventually a crisis arises, some excuse, and the negative, but authentic, great suffering feelings are revealed - and along with them come a spew of all the fears and misconceptions embroiled and exacerbated thereby. It takes time and attention and sincerity and courage and clarity of mind, heart, and spirit to peel through the layers and get to the heart of the matter. Just like climbing the wall and being chased and all that. And too often when such eruptions take place there isn't time and energy and that clarity of mind and heart and spirit so crucial to process this and we fail to climb the wall and turn dejected and wander too and fro. But when they do take place it changes this nether world into a semblance of heaven!
So again, are things that are authentic and true in our lives, our powerful suffering and glorious experiences, where we're "at", all those things, not quite so much because they are ours and deeply felt but because they reflect or transmit a divine quality that happens to be in our awareness? And conversely that things that we experience that are not true are not true because they fail to reflect or transmit those same divine qualities (at least when in juxtaposition)?
Is this then not that vision?
Again - "I charge you all that each one of you concentrate all the thoughts of your heart on love and unity. When a thought of war comes, oppose it by a stronger thought of peace. A thought of hatred must be destroyed by a more powerful thought of love."
But climbing the wall cannot be avoided. A shift in consciousness must be personally undertaken by each one of us. We are eachother's watchman and are ourselves the wayfarer. And we make plenty of plaints. If we develop our purity of heart, our chastity of soul, our freedom of spirit, and can hold them fast in maturity then we gain the tools to make use of the wall and can climb it and share with eachother the vision of the garden, in the garden. Then we would attain more readily, though not without great effort, to witness the Maiden find Her Ring?
